BASIC OPERATING RULES

All players will receive equal playing time.  The actual number

of shifts per player per game depends on the number of players at each game,

but there will be no more than one shift differential in playing time each game. Coaches will be asked to carry the shifts over to the next game so as to give

the extra shift to those that had one less during the previous game.

Any player arriving late will be slotted in to the normal rotation from that point on. He/she will not be allowed to make up missed shifts.

Players are asked to stay on the team bench during games. This helps build team loyalty and makes for easier line changes for the coaches.

Each     Player will have the opportunity to play all positions; i.e. guard, centre, forward.

Scores will be kept in the grade 5-6 league. Scores will not be kept in the grade 3-4 league. Further, coaches will be asked to not keep score themselves and to discourage players from doing same.

Practices and games will begin at designated times. Gyms will be open 10-15 minutes before first game/practice.  Please be on time for games and practices out of courtesy to teammates/coaches.

If a participant is unable to make a game/practice, please inform your coach well in advance.

Players must wear uniforms to all games and practices. Uniforms must be returned after the last game of the season. Lost tops will have to be replaced by parents at a cost of $20.00.

Players are required to dress appropriately for basketball; ie. Team jersey, basketball shorts, non-marking sneakers. Jogging pants, cut-offs or splash pants are unacceptable.

At least one coach from each team is expected to attend practice sessions with their teams but will not be expected to lead the practices. This will enhance the player/coach relationship and give coaches a better view of player qualities.
